Title: The Three Reasons Why Humans Are Born: "Life Is Meant to Be Enjoyed"
Hello everyone, and thank you for reading. Today, I would like to explore the meaning of life. You’ve probably heard the question, "What is the purpose of life?" many times. Today, using the teachings of Seikan Kobayashi, who deeply contemplated the growth of the soul and joy, we will delve into the purpose of life. We will discuss it in three parts, so please stay with us until the end.
The purpose of life can be divided into three main points. First, to "help the soul grow"; second, to "enjoy life"; and third, to "be someone who brings joy to others." When these three align, we can live a more fulfilling life.
We Are Born to Help Our Souls Grow
Let’s begin with the first point, "We are born to help our souls grow." Do you believe in the existence of the soul? A research team in America conducted an experiment showing that a person’s weight slightly decreases at the moment of death. This phenomenon suggests that the soul may leave the body at that moment.
It is said that we are born into this world to help our souls grow. In Buddhism, there is the concept of reincarnation, where the soul is reborn into different bodies to experience life over and over. Research at the University of Virginia also confirms that children around the world have memories of past lives. This may be evidence that we are not living just one life but rather embarking on a long journey for the soul’s growth.
We Are Born to Enjoy Life
Next, let’s consider the point, "We are born to enjoy life." Seikan Kobayashi often said that life is meant to be enjoyed. Life is not just about suffering and sadness; it is filled with moments of joy.
For example, the happiness you feel in everyday moments, the joy of spending time with family and friends, and the sense of achievement in your hobbies and work—all of these are experiences that we are meant to enjoy in this world. Kobayashi also said that "life is like a movie." We are the main characters in that movie, and it’s important to enjoy every scene, no matter what comes our way.
However, life doesn’t always go as planned, right? There are times when sad or painful moments arise. But these experiences are also part of the soul’s growth. Kobayashi taught that it’s not about labeling events as good or bad, but rather how we accept and enjoy them.
We Are Born to Be Someone Who Brings Joy to Others
Lastly, let's talk about the point, "We are born to be someone who brings joy to others." Being someone who brings joy means living not just for yourself but for those around you.
Seikan Kobayashi said, "Fulfilling requests is a way to bring joy to others." By diligently fulfilling what is asked of us, we bring happiness to those around us. Even things we didn’t want to do initially but completed can bring joy to others.
Moreover, being someone who brings joy also means that just by being present, you make others feel warm and at peace. A person who is always smiling, speaks kind words, and acts with consideration can create an environment of warmth and joy for those around them.
The Body Is a Loaned Garment, the Soul Is Eternal
Here, I’d like to introduce an analogy. Seikan Kobayashi described our body as a "loaned garment." Our body is something we borrow temporarily, and one day, we must return it to the divine. However, our soul is eternal and will continue to be reborn and grow.
So, rather than fearing the decay of the body, it’s important to focus on how much we can grow our soul, enjoy life, and live as someone who brings joy to others while we have this body.
The reason we are born into this world is not complicated. We are here to grow our souls, to enjoy life, and to become someone who brings joy to others. So, let’s embrace gratitude for everything and approach all experiences with a positive mindset.
Conclusion: Enjoy Life and Be Someone Who Brings Joy to Others
In conclusion, let’s reflect on the meaning of life. We are born to grow our souls, to enjoy life, and to be someone who brings joy to those around us.
When you face challenges, believe that they contribute to your soul’s growth and approach them with a positive attitude. Don’t forget to enjoy every moment of life and live as someone who is appreciated by others. That is our role in this world.
Starting today, try incorporating this way of thinking into your daily life. I’m sure your life will become more fulfilling and joyful.
